The Barn is poised in a beautiful spot at the valley’s edge, with the open wilds of Wales on one side and all the facilities of the pretty market town of Hay-on-Wye on the other. There are wonderful views of The Black Mountains and to the rear the woods rise up to the Radnor Hills. It is peaceful without being remote. The Barn has been restored to a high standard by experienced craftsmen, using locally sourced stone, oak and lime mortar. It has a three storey central entertaining space, fifty feet long with stone flags, oak boarding and a large wood stove. All the rooms are painted in lime white with huge twisted oak beams and traditionally pegged oak framing. Arrow-slit windows with simple oak shutters light the main hall. Outside there is an undercover table tennis area. An efficient heating system has been installed so even the largest spaces remain cosy and warm. In the summer the big double doors can be opened so that it remains light and airy. The gardens surrounding the barns provide large level lawns for games or sitting out.
